Méribel’s Ski Sunday

Martin Hemsley

If you are a keen follower of the BBC’s Ski Sunday, you may have noticed that Méribel featured a few days ago with the resort hosting two FIS World Cup Ladies events. I’ll blog more about this over on www.mh2ski.co.uk soon, but I can’t resist showing you a few photos Canon Senior and I took. The first one below may appear rather random, however it is in fact Graham Bell blasting down the downhill course filming whilst shouting his ‘commentary’ Can you see one of his cameras on his left ski? Saturday’s weather was perfect, very cold and sunny for the downhill.

This next image is one of the forerunners making a pig’s ear of ….. forerunning !?!

Then overnight the weather turned for the worse, giving us over 20cm’s of fresh snow. Normally one would say fresh ‘pow pow’ is great, but it’s the opposite for racing. So the course workers had a tough job making it safe. Look who I sniffed out at the top of the course, a course worker and one of Meribel’s best known characters Mr. Rab Macnab. He may look like a grizzly bear that would bite your head off, but he is a real softie.

I hope you enjoyed seeing these images. Another blog where I contribute over on www.mh2ski.co.uk has been given a slightly higher priority than here. Don’t forget mh2ski has a Facebook page and Twitter account as well. Facebook is updated often daily, therefore if you would like more regular news from Méribel during the winter then feel free to ‘like’ the Facebook page to receive your more frequent fix. You can search for us on Facebook, or just follow the link on www.mh2ski.co.uk

Live with passion everyone.
