Hi everyone, and apologies for being quiet from the global headquarters of Aspire To Ski. Speaking of which the headquarters has moved again, ie Harriet and I have bought and moved house here in Leamington Spa. That’s one of the reasons for being quiet on the blog, the other is my sheer workload with my wedding business. So without sounding like a ‘Moaning Minnie’, let’s get on with this latest post. Sadly Harriet and I didn’t make it back to Méribel over the summer period, but we did get to visit some mountains recently, this time back to The Lake District.
It just so happened that after two weeks of moving house, and smack bang in the middle of a busy wedding schedule, we thought it would perfect timing to go and visit some of the finest mountains available to us! There is nothing like perfect planning, and that was nothing like ……….We had a twin holiday with a few days on the shores of Buttermere, finishing off with a couple of days at Elterwater.
We packed our mountain bikes into the car, our hiking boots, and a few bags to accommodate Canon and his chums. So onto the weather. Hhhmmmmmm. Feisty probably sums it up. Very high winds put paid to any hikes up high, and our Gore-tex goodies were stress tested. In fact we only had one dry day during the week. I remember that we signed our few postcards as ‘Soaky McSoaked’, we felt that wet. Having said that we made the most of our holiday, including the one sunny day. I’ve got loads to share with you all, but sadly have run out of time. We ended up cycling more than hiking, including some pretty step mountain passes. If you can make out a small pink spot in this next image, it’s Harriet making her way up the final part of the Honister Pass.
So here goes with a few snapshots of our trip. Live with passion everyone, and let’s start getting fit for next winter.
